Days after OpenAI unveiled another service that makes reservations for restaurants and buys for groceries, the Deep Research tool is now available.
An online tool for grocery shopping and restaurant reservations was released by OpenAI a week ago. It is currently providing artificial intelligence (AI) technology that can collect data from the internet and compile it into brief reports. Days after demonstrating the technology to politicians, policymakers, and other authorities in Washington, OpenAI showcased the new tool, Deep Research, on YouTube on Sunday.
OpenAI's chief product officer, Kevin Weil, stated at the Washington event that the company is capable of performing intricate research jobs that could take a human anywhere from 30 minutes to 30 days. Depending on the intricacy, Deep Research, on the other hand, can complete such tasks in five to thirty minutes. This type of technology is known as an A.I. agent by researchers studying artificial intelligence. While chatbots are capable of creating graphics, writing poetry, and responding to queries, agents can make use of various online tools and services. Anything from using DoorDash to order meals to combining data from the internet might be part of this.
Mr. Weil presented the technologies used to collect data on Albert Einstein during the Capitol Hill briefing. He requested that the program create a thorough report on the physicist for a fictitious Senate staffer getting ready for a congressional hearing in which Einstein is nominated to be the secretary of energy for the United States. It also produced a list of five questions that a senator could use to assess Einstein's suitability for the position, as well as details on his career and character. "It can browse the web and comprehend PDFs, images, and text," Mr. Weil stated. It can also perform this action in a recursive manner. It can conduct one search, which in turn prompts more searches, and then it can combine all of the knowledge it has acquired.
According to Mr. Weil, the tool's reports had citations indicating the source of the data. Yet, artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as this one can still make mistakes or even fabricate information, a phenomena known as "hallucination" among AI experts. This could indicate that the citations it uses are inaccurate. OpenAI said that the tool frequently failed to appropriately indicate when it was unsure of the information it was presenting and that it might have trouble telling the difference between rumours and reliable information. However, Mr. Weil maintained that the instrument might aid in the acceleration of economic growth in the United States. He went on to say that professionals in industries like banking, research, and law would find the technology very helpful.
Anyone with a $200/month subscription to ChatGPT Pro, which gives users access to all of OpenAI's newest products, will be able to access Deep Research starting on Sunday, the company announced. The tool will be available through its other premium services as well. The technology behind the tool is the same as that behind ChatGPT.
This technology, which is a mathematical system that can learn abilities by analysing data, is known as a neural network by A.I. experts. OpenAI has recently created iterations of the technology that can "reason" through tasks, figuring out what to do by trial and error. Deep Research is built on the most recent reasoning technology developed by the organisation.
