Due to concerns over a security and privacy danger to Indian users, the Indian government banned hundreds of Chinese apps in India in February of last year. Garena Free Fire was developed by a Singaporean business, yet despite this, it was listed as a "security threat" and prohibited in the nation.

The ban, according to the ministry of electronics and IT, is crucial because these apps "pose a threat to the country's security" and are rumoured to be able to "obtain various critical permissions" as well as "collect sensitive user data."

Battel Royale games are especially beloved by Indian gamers, while Call of Duty, Garena Free Fire, and BGMI are hugely popular in the Indian gaming market. These games are enjoyed by millions of Indian gamers, so any news pertaining to them is quite important to them.

After a 10-month restriction, the game was recently made available in India, much to the joy of BGMI aficionados. Garena Free Fire players had hope after BGMI's unbanning, and in recent days, whispers of the prohibited game's return to India have circulated.

Players of Garena Free Fire may now stop waiting because the game is about to reopen in India with a new name and some new guidelines. The Government of India outlawed Free Fire, BGMI, and a few other applications in February 2022 due to security concerns.

In India once more, Garena Free Fire
In India, Garena Free Fire will relaunch as Free Fire India. The game will "incorporate unique content and features to encourage a safe, healthy, and enjoyable gameplay experience," according to the creator. Yotta, a Hiranandani Group subsidiary, will offer the local cloud hosting and storage infrastructure for the game.

The game will have features including a verification system to enable parental monitoring, playtime restrictions, and "take a break" reminders, and it will be available for download starting on September 5.

The character MS Dhoni is made playable.
MS Dhoni has joined as the game's brand ambassador, and he will be playable as the character 'Thala' in the game, according to a separate announcement from Garena. Other notable athletes, like Sunil Chhetri, the football captain, Saina Nehwal, Leander Paes, the defending tennis champion, and Rahul Chaudhari, the kabaddi champion, will join Dhoni.

MS Dhoni will be honoured for becoming the first Indian athlete to appear in-game as the playable character Thala, according to Garena.
